22 Nov Why Chocolate Truffles Make the Perfect Last Minute Dessert
Need to pull off an elegant dessert at the last minute? High-quality chocolate truffles do the trick every time. Make them or buy them-it doesn’t matter. Just enjoy each savory bite of these perfectly portioned flavor bombs as you celebrate the season.
This month’s Recipe Redux theme, Trimming the Table, really made me sweat.
Here’s what I read:
The holiday baking season is upon us. Time to pull out all the stops. Show us the healthy holiday dessert you will be sharing with family and friends this season.
Here’s what I thought:
I’m not a baker. I’m not a baker. I’ve routinely admitted to this fact. I’m a cook. I’m not a baker. Why are they making me bake?
Instead of stressing out about it, I took matters into my own hands and decided to post about the simple, elegant, decadent and portion-controlled chocolate truffle.
There are many wonderful chocolate truffle recipes out there. In fact, if you head over to Healthy Aperture, you’ll find recipes for avocado truffles, vegan pumpkin truffles, cranberry date truffles, salted almond, inner goddess, chocolate maca and many more varieties. I, as you know, am not a baker (or pastry person), so I opt to purchase truffles when the need arises. But to those of you who embrace the bake, go for it. Truth? I’d rather have an extra helping of stuffing or another latke or two. But if you’re one of those people who’d rather have a bite of high-quality chocolate at the end of a meal, this is for you. It’s also a thoughtful gift for a host or hostess.

If you’re serving at home, place on a funky, fun or elegant platter and decorate to the nines. Or, don’t. Put them on a paper plate or leave them in the box. I love the look of the truffles on this glass plate-a wedding gift from my brother and sister-in-law.
Either way, I hope you enjoy them!
