Where do you shop for food?
I get a farmer’s market box from Quinciple once a week that includes vegetables, fruit, cheese, sometimes meat, etc. Besides that, I usually go to my local market to pick up a few items here and there. I try to get to the Union Square Farmer’s market a few times a month.
Do you love food shopping or dread it?
I love shopping for food a little too much. I often will go into markets just to look at what kind of new products they might have! Whether it’s a farmer’s market or grocery store, I am in my element.
How often do you shop?
I shop often. I get a farmer’s market box once a week, plus actually going to the famer’s market and picking up a few things here and there (avocado, bread, etc) as we run out.
What is the most coveted food in the fridge right now for each member of the household? Why?
The Noble Bourbon-aged maple syrup is a pancake game-changer.
Do you believe in leftovers?
Yes & no. I think I want to use leftovers more than I actually do.
What brands do you swear by? Why?
For gluten-free especially, I love Udi’s, Bob’s Red Mill and So Delicious Coconut milk.
What was the last meal you cooked from scratch?
I made a sage, pumpkin and white bean soup as it is beginning to get colder here in New York.
What was the last meal you cooked from convenience products?
Vegetable tacos! I always have a can of beans, cotija cheese and tortillas on hand, then I just use up whatever veggies I have hanging around in the fridge.
What convenience product can you not live without?
Hummus. As easy as it is to make, my cravings for it will only stand for store-bought convenience.
What words of wisdom or advice do you have for other folks who are doing their best every day to fill the fridge?
My best advice is to make a list of the contents in your fridge. I keep my handwritten list posted right outside my fridge including everything in there. I put a star next to items that need to be used up in the next few days. This definitely keeps my fridge more organized, and you will stop letting vegetables wilt from negligence.
Thanks Julia!
