In previous roundups, we’ve looked at the experts – dietitians, chefs, & athletes. But, what makes someone an expert in their field is the sheer dedication and vigorous training that went into their studies. This week we celebrate the hard working students and experts-to-be who will lead communities to optimal health and well-being. Robinsbite gives each of them an A+!

Inside the Fridge Welcomes Blogger and MD/PhD Student Joanne Bruno
Joanne is a vegetable and cupcake-loving MD/PhD student living NYC. She’s the voice behind the blog Eats Well With Others. Joanne combines her passion for food with a love of exercise and runs endurance events while raising money to fight cancer. She is also snarky with a penchant for hyperbole…so take everything she says with a grain of salt.
ITF: Where do you shop for food?
JB: I shop at a mix of stores. Mostly, I find myself at Whole Foods (since it’s actually the cheapest supermarket in Manhattan, if you can believe that) but I also use an online grocery store on occasion (called Fresh Direct) and go to Trader Joe’s for specific things (cookie butter is my life). And, of course, I also frequent farmer’s markets as much as possible.

Inside the Fridge welcomes Destini Borchardt. Destini is a nutritional science graduate student and dietetic intern at Stephen F Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. She has recently accepted an exciting internship here at Robinsbite! Destini is also a graduate of Texas Tech University and the International Culinary Institute. Destini is passionate about optimizing the health of families through food and nutrition. She believes that nutrition education is the keys to helping individuals understand how to make permanent lifestyle changes. ITF: How do you plan your weekly meals? Create a spreadsheet of fly by the seat of your pants?
DB: Every Sunday night, my husband and I sit down and plan out our weekly meals. I usually do all the work, while he informs me of his latest cravings. Some days the schedule gets thrown out the window and I improvise. Sunday is the day I prepare ingredients for my crockpot meals and make side dishes to use throughout the week. Regardless of what ends up on our plate we eat together as a family with little distraction.
ITF welcomes UT Southwestern grad student and now registered dietitian Kimberly Spatola
Inside the Fridge welcomes nutrition grad student Kimberly Spatola! Originally from Louisville, KY, Kimberly moved to Dallas to attend UT Southwestern’s Masters of Clinical Nutrition Program. Kimberly has plans to move to North Carolina to pursue her career in nutrition after she finishes school…and graduation is just around the corner for this go-getter! When she’s not hitting the books, Kimberly loves to spend time with friends, bake desserts, and workout at bootcamp! Check out Kimberly’s Blog.

ITF: What are your go-to food/nutrition/culinary/cooking website/s, book or cookbook?
KS: I always check out foodnetwork.com for an idea of a recipe if I am short on time. I also enjoy looking for recipes on foodblogsearch.com. I usually get more unique and inventive recipe ideas from that. My favorite cookbook is Shirley O. Corriher’s book,Cookwise: The Hows and Whys of Successful Cooking. Food science drives her recipes and I have enjoyed every one I have made. All of the recipes have turned out perfectly!

Ann Lokuta is a 20-something nutrition grad student at the University of Michigan, addicted to feeling healthy and all the habits that come along with it. Committed to maintaining a healthy diet (on a budget), while balancing school, exercise, and work is an everyday challenge (if there’s a will, there’s a way). Ann shares her outlook on healthy living with food & fit tips, recipes, and the latest health science findings on various social media outlets: The Downriver Dish, Mind the Science Gap, Food for Thought, and @AnnLokuta on Twitter.
ITF: What convenience product can you not live without?
AL: Peanut Butter – I’m eating it with apple slices right now! Krema Natural Creamy Peanut butter – with bananas, apples, smoothies, on toast with an egg white – delicious.
Inside the Fridge Welcomes Food Blogger and Robinsbite Intern Kylie Held
Kylie Held is a future Registered Dietitian who just began her dietetic internship at The University of Texas School of Public Health in Houston. She is also the healthy food blogger behind Yeah…imma eat that, a blog that makes healthy eating exciting. Recipes found on Yeah…imma eat that try to encourage the belief that healthy food is not only easy to prepare, but is something to crave. Kylie’s recipes have recently been featured by Fox News and Chobani. But most importantly, she is currently an intern here at Robinsbite! Her favorite things include Mexican food, pretending like she can rock climb, eating breakfast, stuffing things with peanut butter, avocados, planning her December wedding and baking things with oat flour. ITF: What words of wisdom or advice do you have for other folks who are doing their best everyday to fill the fridge?

Inside the Fridge welcomes Jaime Ruisi. Jaime is a student majoring in nutrition atLong Island University– Post, in New York. She has recently accepted an exciting internship here, at Robinsbite! Jaime’s passions include writing and creating healthy recipes for her friends and family. When she’s not in the kitchen or in class, you can find her running along a local path to the beach. ITF: What is the single most important thing on your mind when you are shopping for food?
JR: I always try to keep variety in mind while I’m food shopping. I am a creature of habit and tend to eat the same foods over and over again. I like to change it up every so often. This week, I bought something totally out of the box, tempeh.
