08 May Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive May 11
As a former employee of the North Texas Food Bank, I can tell you that many people are merely a paycheck away from needing food assistance.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s annual study measuring food security in the United States, more than 50 million Americans, including nearly 17 million children, are food insecure, meaning they live at risk of hunger. To me, this is absolutely unacceptable.
How to help? Volunteer. Donate. Lobby. Blog. Talk about it. Do something. Anything.
Start here.
On Saturday, May 11, join me and my family as we participate in the annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive.
Here’s what to do:
1. Collect and bag non-perisable food items
2. Place by a mailbox for letter carriers to deliver to a local food bank or pantry.
What are the most needed non-perishable food items?
Small steps create big changes. Start now.
