January 5, 2015: Regan Miller Jones turns 40

1975 was a historical year.

Mood rings and leisure suits were trendy. A quart of milk was .46 and a loaf of bread was .33. Tech gurus Stephen Wozniak and Steven Jobs begin working on a little idea that develops into the Apple 1 prototype.  A show called Saturday Night Live premiers. Microsoft lands on the map.

And in a little town that I cannot pronounce in Georgia, Alabama this little girl was born. (oh yes I did, RMJ!)

Regan Miller Jones, we didn’t cross paths until many years after you were born, but I think we are quickly making up for lost time.

As I was writing this post, I went back through some of our old text messages and RMJ, I laughed until I cried.  There are so many things I appreciate and adore about you.

  • Your sick hilarious sense of humor
  • Your ability to teach me phrases such as “Aww Lawwd” and “Son” and to enunciate said phrases with the proper Southern drawl
  • Your ability to hashtag any word or phrase (#slowblinker, #reallyjill, #sponsoredtravel)
  • Your love of color coded spreadsheets, Google docs, receipt scanner apps, and really, all things technology
  • Your interest in all things related to Judaisim
  • Your undying support of my food photography attempts and my short term running goals
  • Your ability to turn a dream into a reality for yourself and others
  • Your commitment to yourself and your family
  • Your unwavering friendship

Regan, I know you prefer wine, but I prefer beer and hey-that’s how I roll. So, I raise my bottle of Dos Equis to you because if you still lived here, this is very likely what we’d be doing to celebrate this momentous day.

To you, RMJ, on this, your 40th birthday. I can’t wait to see what the next forty years bring for you, my friend.

 Cheers!

In true Robin-to-Regan fashion, this post is epically funny. #Ofcourse. It’s the 2nd time I’ve been back, just to re-read and press play again. You slay me with your humor and wit… and your ability to boil Judaism down to its basic essence #IAmYourStudent 🙂

Thank you for being an amazing friend. I can’t wait to celebrate in person with you soon!!!
